If WD was fired the only guy on my list at this point would be Mactavish.

Pretty sure the Canucks are going to get a really good player no matter where or who they draft. Mathews, Laine, Puljujarvi, Tkachuk, Chychurn, Dubois, Juolevi, Nylander, Mcleod etc.

Not going to dispute your list, he did a good job with the canucks farm team (Chicago Wolves) once, but his time in Edmonton as head coach he made the playoffs 3 times in 9 years, losing in the first round twice and making SC final once.

Oh, and I think he lost 1st round with the Wolves after making 1st in the division also.

Doesn't scream high end coaching material to me.

Taking Edmonton to a game 7 stanley cup final vs Carolina is no small feat. Any decent player he had left moved on and they have had a $hit line up ever since. He is a good coach. Good resume. Quality person. I would give him a shot instantly.
